Description

Nestled in a serene enclave, ‘Kingfisher Lodge’ offers a harmonious blend of tranquillity and convenience. It enjoys an enviable position just steps from the award-winning Lower Mill Spa, a stone’s throw from the renowned Ballihoo restaurant, and a stroll from the popular amenities at Millstone Park. Yet while all these conveniences are at hand, the property remains tucked away with only a handful of other holiday homes behind a private gate amidst trees and boat sheds, ensuring you a peaceful retreat.

As you step inside, a world of muted elegance unfolds. The tiled entryway leads to a warm and inviting hall with a stylish console table to lay your keys down and leave the outside world behind.

Ground Floor

Store your shoes and hang your coats in the cosy nook by the front door. There is a convenient WC to your right, and a separate downstairs shower room close at hand.

Discover a double bedroom with drawers and a built-in hanging robe, tastefully decorated in a calming colour palette.

Venture further down the hall to find a master king bedroom that offers not only an en-suite bathroom with shower over bath, but also an adjoining sitting room with an occasional single daybed, that can be used for an additional child or small adult upon request.

If alternative bed configurations are not requested at the time of booking or at least one week before arrival, an additional charge may be applied to recall Housekeeping to make the adjustments

Outside

From the master bedroom and sitting area on the ground floor, glass sliding doors open onto a private south facing deck. An inviting wicker lounge set and coal BBQ, overlooking Clearwater Lake and its tranquil surroundings, invites you to bask in nature’s beauty.

Beyond the deck, be joined by the local duck families as they natter around the lawn and launch onto the lake through a break in the reeds. While the foliage is season dependent, your own direct lake access is a feature of this property. It is important to note that Clearwater Lake is heavily surrounded by reeds and trees and not ideal for paddle boarding all year round. However, you can certainly cast your fishing rod and enjoy the water and picturesque views that are so special at Lower Mill Estate.

 First Floor

Ascend the carpeted stairs to a landing in the central hub of this home.

There is a children’s bunk bedroom designed with young ones in mind. The bunk is a shorty bed and smaller than full sized singles.

The kitchen is a cook’s delight, compact, yet complete with an island for entertaining and modern NEFF appliances, including a fridge freezer, dishwasher and all-in-one washer dryer. There is a convenient microwave oven, single electric oven with separate grill and a 5-burner gas cooktop. Enjoy your daily brew from the in-house Nespresso machine, complete with separate milk frother.

The kitchen overlooks a sophisticated dining area with a table for eight guests and a drinks cart to create a finer dinner party experience.

Beyond, a palatial lounge area with large comfortable sofas, Smart TV with Blu-Ray DVD player and small selection of DVDs (bring your favourites to ensure the whole family are satisfied). Set the mood with the soundtrack to your holiday through the in house Sound system equipped with iPod docking station.

The lounge features a central wood burner for the colder seasons, and an impressive double height vaulted ceiling with full height glazed windows. Slide open the glass doors onto the south facing balcony and pull up a seat to be soothed by the swaying reeds and surrounding mature trees as they create a captivating backdrop. Grab the binoculars (the owners really have thought of all the touches) and let the estate’s abundant wildlife enchant you.

Second Floor

Ascend to the top floor, where the final double bedroom awaits in a light-filled loft, illuminated with thoughtfully placed Velux windows that can also be darkened at night to ensure a peaceful slumber.

From this room, a picture window provides a bird’s eye view of the living area below, connecting you to the captivating natural surroundings outside. Clever under-eaves storage adds functionality with built-in-robes, while an en-suite shower room ensures your comfort and convenience.

‘Kingfisher Lodge’ isn’t just a holiday destination; it’s an immersion into the idyllic beauty of Lower Mill Estate. A unique lakeside holiday home that invites you to unwind and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Overall a wonderful place to stay if you like walks, nature, watersports and a generally pretty chilled experience. Would have appreciated better options for restaurants / cafes on site - maybe one near the main pool? - and there were things like the wine tasting area that were ££ and really disappointing. The small food shop is very expensive too. The estate was pretty quiet when we were there, I am not sure how well those amenities would have stood up to a busier period. Recommend a walk to the new local pub, the food there was lovely.

Everything was wonderful we really enjoyed our stay. We also found some local villages with great pubs. The swimming pool was such a big bonus as the weather was awful for us. .

We absolutely loved our stay at Lower Mills. It was so chilled out, but enough to keep us busy. I’ve been recommending it to everyone! The focus on wildlife was wonderful. We loved it!
